PRESS ROOM

Press Release
January 15, 2009

It all started with a contribution and a call from Texas. Bob Homrich, a 1967 graduate of Bishop Noll Institute challenged the current student community at his alma mater to raise 250 jars of peanut butter in two weeks to benefit the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana. If the Noll community met that challenge, then he would double his original contribution of $500 to the school’s Annual Fund.

On Friday, Jan. 15, Homrich with his wife Joan stopped in at Noll to see a tower of 393 jars of peanut butter behind the front desk. The couple was surprised at the success of the Noll community as it surpassed the goal by 143 jars. Moved by the generosity of the school, Homrich increased his donation to $600 totaling his contribution toward the Annual Fund to $1,100.

The BNI Annual Fund is part of the school’s operating budget soliciting funds from the BNI community and beyond to fill the $2,000 gap between current tuition and the operating costs. This year the school’s goal is to raise $175,000 by June 30.
